Manly W.
Mumford, 78, died December 31,2003, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born in Evanston,
Illinois. He was a graduate of Harvard College (Class of 1940) and of
Northwestern University School of Law (Class of 1950). A partner of Chapman and
Cutler, he was a nationally renowned municipal bond lawyer. He was president of
The Cliff Dwellers. A member of the Literary Club since 1961, he served as
chairman, Officers and Members, chairman, Arrangements and Exercises, and four
terms as chairman of Publications. He was president of the Club in 1978-79. He
presented 18 papers and was the leader at two Book Nights.
